WANT To Know MORE ABOUT OUR GRASS FED & PASTURE RAISED BEEF?

"Trending" words can sometimes be misleading. However, the more you understand what you are consuming, the more you learn what terms are important, versus buzz words.

  • What is All Natural Beef?

Simply stated, it means our cattle are living the way they should. In the open air, with room to roam, grazing on grass. It also means that we make sure that they are free from exposure to chemicals, or additives. Our livestock grazes in rotating paddocks to help ensure they are continually eating fresh clover, grasses and indigenous pasture plants.

  • What are GMO's?

The technical term is Genetically Modified Organisms. Awareness has increased that many of these have not only infiltrated much of the mass available food supply, but that they are contributing to a wide range of side effects! To that end, we realize that those can impact what we, and our food supply consumes. We don't like it, and we go the extra distance to ensure our feeds, hay and other food on the farm is free of GMO's.

  • Why is Minimally Processed Better?

The simple phrase is "Too many cooks in the kitchen spoils the broth". The more detailed answer is our USDA certified butcher is independent and prefers to avoid what "Big Meat" does. There are no preservatives, colors or otherwise used when we process our beef.

  • What About Antibiotics and Hormones?

As many of us become more and more aware of the lasting impacts of chemicals in our food supplies, so too are we are very aware of how these impact our cattle. They're not good for them, and they're not good for us either. More and more research strongly supports that if we avoid chemicals, and live a more organic lifestyle, we and our cattle are healthier because of it.

  • Why is Grass Fed or Pasture Raised Better?

It kind of is a no brainer when you think about it. Outside of the obvious, grass fed, pasture raised animals are less stressed, less prone to disease and have a higher overall quality of life than animals on feedlots. Grass fed, pasture raised beef also has better texture, color and has flavor. Delicious flavor. It is also has higher Omega-3 and overall beneficial nutrients. Our grass-fed livestock lives on a diet that is 99% natural pasture grass and plants year round.

  • I don't live near the farm. How do I get MHF Beef?

We offer Farm pick-up and we also offer pick up during the Farmers Market season (April-December). If you live outside of the Caroline or Talbot County area, please contact us for ordering. We plan to expand our shipping capabilities in the next year, but we also want you to enjoy our MHF products, so reach out, and let's see how we can help you!
